Russell: Alright, and we're back. Russell here from the Canadian Conservative. Thecanadian Conservative substac.com. And today I wanted to talk a little bit about a small town in southwest Ontario called Norwich and how they took a stand that has upset all the right people. Toronto sun reporting that southwestern Ontario township bans flags and rejects push to declare Pride Month. Amid booze from the public gallery, council voted three to two to approve the flag ban. Politicians here on Tuesday night approved a controversial motion I don't know what the controversy is, but okay. To ban non government flags, and then they specifically said here, including Pride flags on any municipal property. While rejecting a separate push to declare June as Pride Month. This rural southwestern Ontario township's five person Council debate drew a large crowd of LGBTQ plus community members to the meeting chambers. Dozens more waved rainbow flags outside, while others, some with pro Trump and People's Party of Canada flags, dotted the property. I simply need to look at our federal, provincial and municipal flags to see everything we need to maintain the unity that is already here, Councilor John Skalton said of the motion to allow only government flags on municipal property, including streetlight poles. By flying these flags alone on township property, we can coexist in peace and harmony, no matter who we are or what we believe, to open the door to flying flags that represent any particular group or organization or ideology will only divide rather than unite. Council concluded the three hour meeting by voting down a motion introduced by Stubs to proclaim June as Pride Month, prompting the head of Oxford's County's Pride Organization to storm out of Council chambers at one point. It's disgusting. I'm very disappointed for the two slgbtq community, the group's president, Tammy Murray, later said. It sets us back. It's regression. Added Pride Board member Jordan Kent, the Council here should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for choosing to take the wrong side of this issue. And this debate came one day after politicians in Chatham Kent rejected a similar motion to ban so called special interest flags from municipal buildings. So they rejected that in Chatham Kent, norwich county made 100% the right decision. They took a stand. It cannot have been an easy stand to take, especially in the modern climate when these gender ideologues want to make noise. They get a whole bunch of people and then they try to stack the room. I saw it at the Saskatoon City Council meeting where they were discussing the gender inclusive bathrooms. I saw it right then and there. They had gotten a whole bunch of people from that community, from other Pride groups, and they brought them all in. They stacked the chambers, they surrounded the people that were not in agreement with the inclusive bathroom policy. They had them surrounded pretty much in the corner of the room. They were in one area and they had people lined up right behind Mark Friezen and myself and some other people that were there. Yeah, it can be quite an intimidating situation because they rely on the numbers, the power of the mob that's there to intimidate and try to intimidate people into certain decision making patterns. But it seems like Norwich County made the right decision in this case. Special interest days and special interest flags, I think those are going to slowly go by the wayside, because, again, it's just been used as a means to divide people rather than unite people. And I think this should be adopted all across Canada. The only flags that need to be flown on any buildings are the Canadian flag and the provincial flag. And then if you're in municipality, I guess if you have your own municipal flag, you can fly that as well. There's no need to fly anything else, no other flags. Because here's the thing. Now we end up with the situation. Well, there's 400, 500, 600 flags. Well, there's only 365 days in the year. Now we're creating a whole bureaucratical system to simply decide which flag is going to be flown on what day, at what time, how long. It is a completely unnecessary level of bureaucracy. It is government pandering. It's make work for the government. This is not an essential function of democracy, of municipal, provincial, or federal politics. But politicians, they can feel good about themselves. Oh, look, we can't agree on anything. We're not going to solve homelessness, we're not going to solve crime. We're completely useless at actually solving the issues that our citizens care about. But you know what, though? We raised a flag. Damn it, we raised a flag. We don't need any of that stuff. The only flags that need to be flown, canadian flag, provincial flag, everyone falls under those. I agree. Those flags are unifying flags we've seen in the past where they've had a pro abortion flag or pro life flag, and people want to fly these flags, right? And then they're in competition with each other. If you're a special interest group, if you're a nonprofit, a lobbyist, and you have a flag, your members can fly it on their vehicles, in their homes, on private property, that's 100% fine. Doesn't need to be through every city, doesn't need to be on every building. And even half masting flags, that's become another thing in Canada as well. We're half masting the flags for everything. We don't need to half mask the flags for everything that happens. Should stick to very strict protocol for half masking the flags and stick with that. Finally, this whole thing about days like, we have to declare Pride Day, pride Week, pride Month, pride Season, and then all the little days in between, this day of visibility. And it all kind of started really with breast cancer awareness. The pink ribbon campaign that was wildly successful. It was kind of one of the first of its kind at the time, and it got turned into. Then all these other organizations had their ribbons and it kind of blew up from there. It was very popular, but it started to get away from the message. The message was less about raising awareness and more about who's wearing the pin. Like that famous Seinfeld episode. Why aren't you wearing the ribbon? Everyone's wearing the ribbon. I applaud Norwich. I think they're doing a great thing. Simply at the end of the day, we don't need to declare any days, months, years, Canada Day and we have Remembrance Day. Those are our two national days. One's a holiday, one's a holiday in some of the provinces and not in others. Those are there are two unifying days in Canada that bring Canadians together. Maybe instead of putting all this emphasis on proclamations and special interest days and that we can simply have Canada Day and Remembrance Day. And because we're not wasting our time with all these extra don't need days and things like that, we could actually put additional resources into celebrating Canada Day and celebrating Remembrance Day. Anyways, that's all I got. I'm really happy to see that Norwich took a stand on this. I know that it's got to be difficult, especially in the current culture, the current climate. It could even be dangerous for those counselors. They're going to be probably docs. They're probably going to have threats against them because the pronoun crew ain't going away. They do not like defeat. They demand satisfaction. They demand victory at all costs. I don't think we're seeing the end of this. I'm a little worried about it, but we're going to see what happens and go from there. What I would like to see is more municipalities, provinces, and even the federal government, which I know this government would never do to get on board with this.
