Russell: Alright, and we're back. Russell here with the Canadian Conservative. Thecanadian Conservative substac.com. Also you can find me on Twitter. It's the only social media platform that I use at thecanadian Con. And today I wanted to talk about the deepening Liberal China scandal. The layers of the onion just keep peeling back on and it just keeps looking worse and worse. It looks like the Liberals have a special repertoire that has deep political connections to China. And it also appears that China has had far more of an influence in Canadian politics than previously realized. And throughout it all, the Liberals biggest concern, instead of election interference and potential for influence, has been to find out the name of the whistleblower so that they can enact some type of sanctions or penalties against that person. And it seems like every scandal that they have just keeps getting deeper and deeper. People jump ship, but the election scandal just keeps getting worse and worse. Even when they finally did get a somewhat of an inquiry going after they filibusted and wasted everyone's time, there was no answers because they just refused to answer the questions. They just won't answer any questions. And if they do answer, it's a non answer. And yet still throughout all this, they have their cheerleaders cheerleading them on. All throughout this that think that nothing bad has occurred, that it's all just right wing conspiracy. I think we call them the true and non types that think that the right leaning media sphere and influencer sphere and the right leaning politicians, which they think they're all fascists and that are simply just colluding to make the Liberals look as bad as possible. This government has had an incredible number of scandals. So many that it would take me probably ten to 15 minutes to list them all. I actually had thought about doing an episode about them before, but then I realized that that episode could probably easily be broken up into four parts totaling an hour in length and maybe even longer. Now with the newest revelations, it appears that the Chinese government may have targeted members of a Conservative MP Michael Chong's family for political influence in 2021. And this is coming, of course, from the Globe and Mail who've been working with the whistleblower leaker. This I don't think it's going to be a ball work moment because we've seen nothing has enabled accountability at all from this government. But I definitely think that it's going to signal the changing of Tide on this because the other parties now are going to want to know things about what's going on. So to give you the Cole's Notes version, and it's been all over the media basically, Michael Chong was not informed that China was involved, potentially involved in influencing through his family. And then when they were called on it today in Parliament, the Public Safety Minister refused to answer any questions. He just refused to answer the questions. And so now, it really begs the question, if our federal government in power is not providing vital security intelligence information to other MPs based on partisan reasoning and potentially influencing public safety. The government has denied it, ignored or failed to disclose that information, but the office is refusing to say when they first learned about this, denying it on one hand, but then refusing to say when they actually learned about the information. The Prime Minister says that there's no way the government would sit on a matter of such seriousness. I don't believe that for a second. And they're saying that security officials briefed Chong on all the information that could be provided. Is that true? Is it not? Again, it'd be nice if we had a public inquiry to go over this. This is just another piece of the puzzle, and all of this could be dealt with if everyone just played ball. This really is the type of situation where instead of playing partisan politics, we need our federal MPs to come together and actually just resolve this situation. All the information should be shared, and everything needs to be shared transparently. It really does, as I've said previously, integrity in an election and in our government matters. And if people honestly don't believe that our elections were won fair and square, and if they honestly believe that there was interference that could have affected the outcome of an election, and if they honestly believe that we have MPs that are in bed with nations that are not necessarily friendly to us, then do we really have a country? At the end of the day, do people really have to follow the rule of law? If it doesn't appear that the people at the top are following the laws and looking out for the best interest of Canadians and more likely looking out the interests of their friends and crony capitalists? So it appears that the allegations will continue to come out. The whistleblowing will continue to occur. The Liberals will continue to ignore the other parties that aren't the official opposition, will continue to sit semi silently on the sidelines. Because, again, it's all partisan politics. No one can be adult in the room right now, and no one's willing to be the type of person that's going to unify people. Instead, everyone's just circling the wagons around their party and their partisan politics right now. It's really worrying on a lot of levels, because the world right now is in a pretty precarious place, not only with the Ukraine Russian war, not only with all the different energy crisis going on. There's a lot of issues going on in the country right now. There's a lot of issues going on in the world right now. And this is the time where we need to have united government. We need to have people not playing partisan politics. It's not a good time for people to be entrenched in their corners and refusing to budge on things and you can say that the Conservatives aren't playing ball 100%. They're not. The party in power right now, and the party that's in power right now doesn't appear that it's engaging in good faith with the rest of Canadians and fellow parliamentarians. Anyways, I'm going to keep following this, as I'm sure every other Canadian is and should be following this, and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of the shocking revelations and horrible things that are going on behind closed doors. So, again, Russell here with the Canadian Conservative podcast, thecanadianconservative substac.com, and you can find me on Twitter at thecanadiancon. And that's all I have for today.
