Russell: Alright, and we're back. Russell here from the Canadian Conservative. Thecanadianconservative substac.com and I wanted to talk about a conversation I saw on Twitter. So on May 4, the account called Real Andy Lee Show and Andy Lee is a journalist in Canada, posted a tweet that said and the Chinese Embassy is already threatening us in quotation marks. China strongly urges the Canadian side to immediately stop this self directed political farce, not to go further down the wrong and dangerous path. Should the Canadian side continue to make provocations, china will play along every step of the way until the very end. And then she says the end of what? And posts a link to the remarks and a screenshot of the remarks that were made by China. In response to that, an account that says Lee Zhean Wei and some Mandarin letters at JL five oh five says yes. Should the Canadian side continue to make provocations, china will play along every step of the way until the very end and then in capitals spelled out period. Now, if you go on to his Twitter profile, this account claims that they are a diplomat based in Ottawa, focused on culture and press affairs from the Gobi Desert, northwest China, an enthusiast in hockey, skiing and swimming. They put their location as Ottawa and that they joined Twitter in January of 2023. And then their pin tweet says as a Chinese diplomat in Canada, I'm grateful to live and work in this beautiful country. Whether it's winter or summer, there are always amazing places to enjoy and be entertained. Now, if you scroll through his Twitter feed, lots of talk about the Chinese Ambassador and just kind of defending China's response to Canada's actions. Now if you go on to Andy Lee, she quote tweeted and she says you've got nerve coming onto my post making threats, I'll give you that. Secretary Lee, how is the approach working for your comrades in Ottawa? Looking to be expelled? With Council Wei continues on this is Second Secretary John Wei Lee folks, and she posts a list on here listing this person as the second Secretary. And then finally she says, hey, China Embassy, Ottawa. If this is actually your associate or someone from the Embassy, you probably want to call this off, given the present very tense political atmosphere. Well, going after Canadian journalists is not a very good look. So I do want to say at this time that it is not confirmed that this actually is a diplomat in Canada, but it's presumed to be a diplomat in Canada. And it's kind of a little unnerving if it is true, because Andy has talked about the fact that she has family members that are Chinese and they could face potential political or persecution for her journalism in Canada covering what's going on with the election interference scandal with China. But to me it just points to a deeper rooted problem. Even if this is fake and it has the potential to be fake. What has been somewhat confirmed, again, this is all hopeful, possibly on a public inquiry to actually come out and hear the truth is that there are Chinese police stations working in Canada with Chinese agents that are looking after Chinese citizens and expats that are living in Canada. Now, as we know, China has a very authoritative government where people are monitored via CCTV, social credit scores, and it's a very, very bleak and dystopian esque country to live in. And we have all these allegations of China interference in our elections, china interference with members of Parliament, Chinese police stations, as well as other shady things political officials dining in China and being part of fundraising campaigns taking part in live chats over Chinese networks and other things as well, including potentially Chinese donations to foundations and things along those lines. The thing is, we're not actually doing a public inquiry. The Prime Minister has selected a special repertoire to look into it and journalists like Andy Lee, Terry Glavin and others have uncovered that this person may not be as impartial as the government's claimed. And the actual scandal may go down to provincial governments, it could go down to municipal. But again, no public inquiry has been authorized at this time. There's been filibusting to try to put an end to looking into certain MPs and getting them in there for questioning. And now we have someone that may or may not be related to this whole situation making a very blank statement on Twitter to a journalist that's been known to try to uncover these connections, who has family members that are Chinese. And if you look in the replies, the bot farm is right out in the open now saying that Andy Lee, you're not really a journalist, and just all the usual defamation of character and insults. Now, I myself have seen similar accounts to these and they're just bought accounts and they just replicate and over and over and over again. And there seems to be some sort of coordinated effort. The one I actually pointed out to Andy Lee previously was by an account, I think it was Dan the man one or something like that. And it was a whole series of accounts. They all had the same name and they were using fake profile pictures of other people and they had the Ukrainian flag and they had some other peace symbol in their bio. But if you looked into it, all their followers, and as you kind of delve deeper into their likes and that, it all went back to what appeared to be Chinese bots or Chinese accounts. So there seems to be some sort of coordinated effort through bot farming and through astroturfing and it targets certain accounts are looking into certain things, more right leaning accounts. I know we're kind of delving off into conspiracy land here, but I saw it with my own eyes. There was at least four or five accounts. They all had the same name. And then I realized that there was more and more and more, so I just blocked as many as I could, and I just moved on after that. So they're out there, and it seems like they're trying to manufacture some consent when someone notices something in public. Anyways, I just thought it was an interesting tidbit to see who knows if the account's authentic or if it's just a bot or troll or whatnot. But if it is real, and it has the potential that it could be real, then we have people that are potentially involved in diplomatic affairs from China trying to make very lucid statements to journalists that are investigating Chinese corruption in Canada. Anyways, that's all I got for now. Russell here from the Canadian Conservative podcast, thecanadianconservative substac.com till next time.
